ISSAMBA is an interactive musical spectacle that showcases Rhythms, Music, and Dances from the African continent, featuring world-renowned African-born artists.

Issamba means "come together" in Cameroon
ISSAMBA promotes and brings together music from across African cultures to present a unified African groove. Immerse yourself in a mix of African instruments, traditional rhythms, and dancing styles. These artists will travel from abroad, gracing BC with their special talents and sharing aspects of their culture with BC.
ISSAMBA, a 90 minute show that gives you a glimpse into the rich and diverse musical culture of Africa, an invaluable experience you won't want to miss!

AFRICAN DANCES CAMP with MERLIN NYAKAM

MERLIN NYAKAM is one of the world's best dancers in West African dance styles, Merlin teaches dance styles from Cameroon, Senegal, Guinea, Ivory Coast. Merlin mixes traditional with modern dance.

Dancer & Choreographer MERLIN NYAKAM (Cameroon / France) is a fantastic, enchanting dancer who teaches with great knowledge, incredible technique, humility, humor and seriousness. He tours around the world, primarily as a dancer in modern dance companies. In addition, he teaches in West African dance styles and in modern dance in Europe, America, Asia and Africa.

* The artistic approach of MERLIN NYAKAM, his generosity and his creativity leads his to share his art, his desires, and his dreams.

It is a lot of fun to learn with Merlin extremely great cardio workout and you burn tone of calories!

African Cultural Week & AfriCa Fest 2018

6th Annual African Cultural Week May 25 to June 3 & Africa Fest return to Victoria.

Celebrate Victoria’s 6th annual Africa Fest on Saturday, May 26, 2018 in the Greater Victoria Public Library (downtown) Courtyard from 11am - 5pm.

Hosted by the Victoria African and Caribbean Cultural Society (VACCS) & Pulchérie N. Mboussi, the festival features lively music, dance, exquisite and exotic food, informative sessions, fashion, and much more.

“We're excited that the festival is now in its sixth year. The African continent has over 3,000 distinct cultures and we believe Victoria residents will get a real glimpse into African culture with this festival."

The festival will feature local artists, African music and dance, a fashion show, interactive games and prizes, as well as activities for kids.

Attendees can also look forward to various items on display and for sale, such as cultural artwork, crafts, clothing, music, and African inspired beauty products such as Shea butter. A detailed schedule is provided on our website.

The festival’s special activity is the projection of AMOURA.
AMOURA: BEING A WOMAN IN CAMEROON/ÊTRE FEMME ET CAMEROUNAISE. The screening will be followed by a conversation with
Wanda Jemly: Actor & Frederique Remy: Director.
